THE GOLF CLUB AT LORA BAY
The Golf Club at Lora Bay offers a memorable round of golf that pays tribute to historic, rural Ontario.
Every hole, every bunker, every green was intentionally sculpted to inspire players both visually and technically.
The 7,105-yard championship layout was co-designed by PGA Tour professional and Ryder Cup Captain Tom
Lehman and Canada's renowned golf course architect Thomas McBroom. Host of the 2007 TELUS World
Skins Game, the course welcomed such stars as John Daly, Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie, Geoff Ogilvy
and Canadian Stephen Ames. From 2008 to 2010, Lora Bay was once again in the spotlight as co-host of
the PGA Nationwide Tour Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic and Celebrity Pro-Am. We look forward to welcoming
you to The Golf Club at Lora Bay soon.
Active Lifestyle
Lora Bay is attracting people who enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. This area is a year round play ground. It draws people who like to
sail, mountain bike, ride horses, fly fish, of course golf, and more... In winter folks turn to skiing and snowshoeing on miles of trails.
THE LODGE & SPA
The Lodge at Lora Bay is owned by the homeowners association and acts as a gathering place for people
in the community. The first floor is complete with a boardroom, library, a stone fireplace, a
second double sided fireplace lounge, wireless internet and extensive patios.
The second floor is more of a party spot with a pool
table, games tables, bar, flat screen TVs and an e levated deck that has a fantastic view of Georgian Bay.
*This deck has been the stage for the Toronto
All Star Jazz Band, with an audience of three
hundred looking and listening on! There is always
something going on at Lora Bay.
The lower level is dedicated to children. "Kids Camp" has been designed for children of all ages with everything from an arts and craft area to foosball, bean bag chairs and basketball hoops.
The Spa will be built at Lora Bay in the next few years and will be the third building set along the Nippising Ridge.
This building will be attached to both the Lodge and the Club House. The spa will act as a centre for healthy living. Plans for the spa include an indoor pool with outdoor hot tubs, change rooms (with lockers for residents), full exercise facilities, studio space and spa treatment rooms.
THE COURTS
Behind the first fairway at The Golf Club at Lora Bay, The Courts
area will feature an official pickleball court (yes, pickleball!), two tennis
courts, and a basketball half court in the area west of Lora Bay Drive.
TRAILS
Lora Bay is bisected by two miles of the Georgian
Trail which acts as a transportation corridor for bikers and walkers making their way into Thornbury or
Meaford. The full Georgian Trail extends all the way from Collingwood to Meaford!
Lora Bay also has designated trails, instead of sidewalks, throughout the community. The golf course cart paths
becomes the cross country ski trails in the winter and are
groomed to provide a great path for snowshoeing or skiing.
DEER YARDS
Lora Bay is more than 60% green space. We have dedicated land to
deer yards, wildlife corridors, nature preserves, trails, waterfront
park and of course a championship eighteen hole golf course.
INTEREST GROUPS
There is an active social scene at Lora Bay. We have a Friday night Meet & Greet so that you always have a place to connect with neighbours and friends.
We have a hiking club, biking club, gardening club, astronomy club and of course men's and ladies golf days…
THORNBURY & MEAFORD
Thornbury is a beautiful, quaint Victorian town right on Georgian Bay.
It has exceptional boutique shops and restaurants and has become
an interior design and artists enclave.
